Dear Neighbours,
I would like to start by apologising for the noise of our pumps and generators running currently. We would not do this unless absolutely necessary. I also apologise for the extended time we have had to run these in this situation.
Unfortunately, we have had a collapse of the dissolved oxygen in the water which has forced us into an emergency situation. As we have no mains power on site we had no other option but to run all the pumps and aerators to save the water. Our aim was to get the water back to a safe level as quickly as possible.
When oxygen crashes like these occur we need to get oxygen back into the water as quickly possible or we start having fish die. This is the start of the domino effect, as once fish die and start decomposing that also reduces the oxygenation of the water. If not caught in time we could have lost the entire water and stock of fish. Which I’m sure a neighbour you would not want million of litres of putrid water with thousands of dead fish in it.
We have had some fish losses, but these were kept to a minimum.
As a club, we are looking at alternative power supply options to have available in the future which will be significantly quieter, if not silent all together. So should we be faced with a similar situation in future, we would not be causing any noise issues at all.
I would like to keep our neighbours informed about any issues like this, as well as any works we may need to undertake in future, as such if you would be willing to share an email address with me, I will add you to our neighbours list, and then I can share information like the above with you all directly. I’ll also be adding a “Neighbours” section to our website, which I’ll keep updated with information also.
We really appreciate your understanding in this matter, but should you wish to ask any questions, or speak to me directly, you can reach me on the details below:
